Maruti Suzuki to Launch First Electric Car Today, Company Announces

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car company, is shifting its focus towards electric mobility with the upcoming launch of its first fully electric car, the e Vitara, set to be launched in India on December 2, 2025. This will be Maruti’s first electric car in India, marking a significant step towards the company’s commitment to electric mobility. While the launch date has been set, the real challenge lies in making the e Vitara a success in the market.
The e Vitara is built on the company’s special Heartect-e platform and will be available with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The size of these batteries indicates Maruti’s consideration for buyers who prefer longer ranges, especially urban drivers.
The smaller 49 kWh battery pack in the e Vitara offers a WLTP range of up to 344 kilometers. The car comes with a front-wheel drive system that provides 142 bhp power and 193 Nm torque. On the other hand, the larger 61 kWh battery pack variant of the e Vitara is available in two versions: FWD and AWD (All-Wheel Drive). The FWD variant boasts a WLTP range of up to 426 kilometers, delivering 171 bhp power and 193 Nm torque. Additionally, the AWD variant in the e Vitara offers 181 bhp power and 307 Nm torque, with a range of 395 kilometers. As per reports, the starting price of the e Vitara is expected to be around 20 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).
The design of the e Vitara is modern, featuring LED projector headlamps, Y-shaped DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), and front fog lamps. The car’s sleek appearance is enhanced by black claddings on the sides and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels. The rear end showcases a black bumper, three-part LED headlamps, and connected glassy black strips.
Maruti’s e Vitara interior is premium and tech-rich, with a dual-spoke steering wheel and dual-screen dashboard setup. The car includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Moreover, the vehicle offers reclining rear seats, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, semi-leather seats, electronic parking brake, and wireless phone charger. Safety features include 7 airbags, 360-degree camera view, and ADAS technology, making the e Vitara a versatile electric SUV for the Indian market.
