Medvedev’s Son Opposes Executions for Corruption in Russia in Analogy with China

Ilya Medvedev, head of projects for the United Russia party, stated that the Chinese model of governance with strict punishment measures for corruption is not applicable in Russia. Medvedev mentioned that ‘In China, they are executed in general. We will not do that. Although in some cases, it would be useful.’ According to him, mindlessly copying the Chinese model is not feasible due to differences in cultural and managerial traditions between the two countries. Medvedev added that involving the party in the formation of an innovative ecosystem akin to the involvement of the Communist Party of China in the development of the technological sector would be logical and natural.

Ilya Medvedev is the son of the chairman of United Russia, Dmitry Medvedev. He received his party ticket in 2022 from the then secretary of the party’s general council, Andrey Turchak, who currently heads the Republic of Altai.
