Memory exists not only in the brain: cells throughout the body are capable of learning

Researchers from New York University have found that memory is not a unique property of the brain. Studies have shown that cells from other tissues in the body are also capable of memorizing information, using the principle of spaced repetition of signals, known in the field of neuroscience as a key mechanism for learning and memory. This discovery challenges the traditional view that memory is solely a function of the brain. By demonstrating that cells throughout the body have the ability to learn, researchers have opened up new avenues of exploration in the study of memory.
