Michelle’s scolding of PL congressman who promised barbecue for Bolsonaro on house arrest

Former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) took to social media to demand ‘sensitivity’ from allies allowed by the Supreme Federal Court to visit former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on house arrest in Brasilia. This comes hours after Congressman Zucco (PL-RS), leader of the opposition in the Chamber, posted a video on Thursday, the 14th, to promote a barbecue he would organize for the ex-captain during one of these visits. Zucco, on social media, is seen holding two cuts of meat and stating that he would bring charcoal to cook the meat for Bolsonaro that day. He had been authorized a few days earlier to visit the imprisoned ally. However, visits must adhere to a set of rules. The main rule prohibits cell phone use and recording content with the former president. Photos of Bolsonaro in prison are also not allowed. Michelle stated that the barbecue promoted by Zucco did not have the ‘approval’ of the Bolsonaro clan and did not materialize. ‘The event that took place today at my residence involving Congressman Zucco did not have our approval. The visit was restricted, brief, and aimed exclusively at humanitarian purposes,’ wrote the former first lady on social media. ‘Such event [the barbecue] did not take place,’ she added. In the same post, Michelle urged ‘the collaboration of future visitors’ to ensure the purpose of the visits is not ‘distorted’. Following the ally’s rebuke, Zucco deleted the post showing him holding the meats. He did not make any further comments about the visit or provide explanations regarding the alleged barbecue. Bolsonaro has been under house arrest at his residence in Brasilia since August 4th, following a decision by Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The judge ruled that the former captain had violated previously imposed precautionary measures, particularly regarding the use of social media, by virtually participating in a far-right protest on Avenida Paulista. The politician is currently being monitored via an ankle monitor.
