The Central Board of the Indonesian Lecturer Association (DPP ADI) has unveiled the dire welfare conditions of lecturers in Indonesia. DPP ADI Secretary-General Prof. Arif stated that in some universities, there are lecturers who are not paid during semester breaks. ‘In some campuses, lecturers are not paid during semester breaks,’ he said during a public hearing with the DPR Commission X on Tuesday (2/12/2025), as quoted from a YouTube TVR Parlemen broadcast rerun. He emphasized that there is no decent minimum wage for teachers and lecturers, stressing the need for a minimum wage for them. On the other hand, there is a minimum provincial wage for laborers. ‘Some might only be paid as low as Rp 300,000, Rp 50,000, Rp 500,000,’ he said.
