Moraes authorizes Bolsonaro to undergo skin medical procedure

Minister of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes authorized on Wednesday (10) former president Jair Bolsonaro to leave house arrest to undergo a medical procedure. Bolsonaro is a defendant in the so-called crucial core of the coup plot. His trial, along with seven allies, is scheduled to continue until Friday (12). The former president will have a skin lesion removed, which could be a freckle or mole known as neoplasia, on Sunday (14), with the expectation of being discharged on the same day. In the document, Moraes stipulated that the hospital attendance certificate must be submitted to the Supreme Court within 48 hours after the procedure’s conclusion. Additionally, Bolsonaro’s transportation to the hospital must be accompanied by the Federal District’s Penal Police escort. Furthermore, inspections will be conducted on all vehicles leaving Bolsonaro’s residence. The request was submitted to Moraes on Monday (8) by the defendant’s defense in the criminal case investigating an attempted coup after the 2022 elections. “The procedure will take place at Hospital DF Star on September 14, on an outpatient basis, with an expected discharge on the same day,” the medical request stated. Under house arrest since August 4, this is the second time the defendant has been permitted to leave his residence. On the 16th, Bolsonaro also visited DF Star for examinations that lasted over four hours.
