Moraes Orders Federal Police to Take Action for Ramagem’s Extradition

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the STF (Supreme Federal Court), ordered this Tuesday (25) that the Federal Police takes action for the extradition of federal deputy Alexandre Ramagem (PL-RJ), who is in the United States. Moraes deemed the process against the parliamentarian, convicted to 16 years and one month in prison for a coup-related scheme, finalized and determined the sentence to be carried out. Ramagem served as director-general of Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) during Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) administration. In his decision, the minister states that the parliamentarian is a fugitive and ordered his name to be included in the BNMP (National Prison Monitoring Bank). ‘INFORM the Federal Police to take appropriate action,’ Moraes states in the decision. The minister also orders notifying the Chamber of Deputies’ presidency to initiate the parliamentary mandate revocation process and the Electoral Justice to declare Ramagem ineligible. Additionally, the Ministry of Justice is directed to take steps for the loss of his position as a PF delegate. These measures are included in the STF’s ruling that convicted the defendant from nucleus 1.
