Moraes orders reinforcement of policing at Bolsonaro’s residence

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court (STF), ordered on Tuesday (26) an increase in policing at the residence of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The decision follows a request from the Federal Police director-general, Andrei Rodrigues. In a document sent to the Supreme Court, the Federal Police asked for ‘urgent and immediate reinforcement’ of policing around Bolsonaro’s residence, as well as for the maintenance and constant monitoring of his electronic ankle bracelet. The request stated that the Federal Police received information about a ‘concrete risk’ of Bolsonaro trying to flee. The document mentioned that the former president might attempt to seek asylum at the United States Embassy.
