Directors Maryam Moghadam and Behtash Sanaeeha (The Forgiveness, 2020) surreptitiously filmed their new movie, My Favorite Dessert, a tender and dark tragicomedy that premiered at the last Berlinale without the presence of its two creators. The film tells the story of a 70-year-old widow who decides to seek company, encountering various characters along the way who bring both laughter and sorrow to her life. The movie, characterized by its mix of desire and dark humor, reflects the challenges of life under the Ayatollahs’ regime in Iran.
