Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, announced that Israel plans to fully control the Gaza Strip to eliminate the threat posed by the terrorist organization Hamas which controls part of Palestinian territory. Netanyahu made these remarks before a security cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Thursday (August 7) during an interview with the American Fox News channel. The security cabinet meeting was convened to decide Israel’s next steps following the 21-month Gaza war against Hamas. When asked if Israel will fully control Gaza, Netanyahu replied: ‘To ensure our security, we intend to drive out Hamas and allow the people there to be free… and hand it over to a civilian government.’
