On August 8, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office announced that the Security Cabinet approved Prime Minister Netanyahu’s plan to ‘defeat Hamas’ by taking over the northern part of Gaza City. The Cabinet endorsed five principles to end the conflict in Gaza: disarm Hamas, release detainees, demilitarize Gaza, establish security control, and form a non-Hamas civilian government. The statement also mentioned the possibility of additional military operations if necessary.
