Nutrition and Diet Experts from Various Universities Ready to Support BGN for the Progress of MBG Program

A group of nutrition and diet experts from various universities across Indonesia are ready to support the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for the progress of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
This was revealed during the first meeting of the nutrition and diet experts team initiated by BGN Deputy Head, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, at the BGN Office in Jakarta on Thursday (November 20, 2025).
‘We express our gratitude for being officially invited to be a speaker, facilitator, and to contribute in solving national issues,’ said Professor Hardinsyah, a Nutrition Science Professor from Bogor Agricultural University and also the Chairman of the Indonesian Nutrition Association (PERGIZI PANGAN).
‘With the formation of this expert team, our attention, thoughts, energy, and time are more structured with a commitment to succeed the MBG program,’ added Hardinsyah.
Professor Eni Harmayani, Dean of the Faculty of Food Technology at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), highly appreciates the idea of forming this expert team.
‘Sincerity… I see that BGN has opened up to receive input from external sources, so in the future, there will be room for improvement to perfect this great program,’ said Professor Eni who attended the meeting online from Japan.
Professor Trias Mahmudiono from Airlangga University (Unair) stated readiness to immediately provide education on food security management and research the impact of providing MBG to children in beneficiary schools.
‘From Unair, we have already designed monitoring activities on nutrition in schools receiving MBG,’ said Prof Trias.
Nutrition and Food Technology Professor from Sahid University, Prof Rahmawati, mentioned that they have already initiated a community service program at the Faculty of Food Technology.
‘Working with the Depok City Government, we provide nutrition education to the community,’ said Prof Rahmawati.
During the same occasion, Professor Teti Estiasih from Brawijaya University emphasized the importance for BGN to ensure that each Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) can adhere to every SOP to maintain food security.
The goal is to prevent undesirable incidents.
‘All MBG kitchens must maintain food security, as this is a long-term investment,’ said Prof Teti.
