On Saturday, influencer Virginia Fonseca was crowned as the new Queen of Drummers at Grande Rio. The ceremony was attended by the former queen, Paolla Oliveira. However, an unexpected episode marked the night: while dancing, the businesswoman ended up twisting her ankle.
The video of the moment generated buzz on social media and divided opinions. ‘The amount of negative energy thrown at her is too much, but she didn’t let it affect her and she slayed,’ said one person, suggesting that the reason for the twist was the number of people against Virginia’s achievement. ‘It’s natural, she was nervous! But apparently, there are only perfect people here, right?!’ empathized another. ‘Poor thing, she nailed it for the first time… she was under a lot of pressure. Even so, she had courage and went for it. How inspiring,’ added another.
However, some were not impressed by the businesswoman’s dancing skills. ‘She’s good at almost everything she does, but in samba… Seriously, it was so bad,’ one follower commented. ‘She’s learning that samba is different from a TikTok dance,’ another remarked. ‘There are so many beautiful, perfect women with samba skills in the communities. And they choose her to be the queen,’ a third person criticized.
In an interview with Quem magazine, the influencer mentioned that she was anxious to take the stage but felt ready. ‘Today is the day, it’s either a success or a failure… I’m feeling super confident, but I want to improve even more by Carnival. I feel prepared for today. A little insecure because it’s something new, but I get very shy when I see many people looking at me, I get a bit tense. I feel ready, committed, and prepared to give my best. The Grande Rio community deserves it.’
