Our solar system welcomes a new interstellar visitor: Meet 3I/ATLAS

A team of international astronomers, including a University of Michigan doctoral student, were the first to publish the discovery of the third known interstellar object to visit our solar system on July 3. Spanning around 4,300 feet in diameter, 3I/ATLAS is larger than previous interstellar visitors, promising new revelations about the universe. Faster and potentially much older than ‘Oumuamua or Borisov, this celestial body holds the key to unraveling mysteries hidden within star systems that emerged billions of years ago.
