Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has moved up to second place among Russians in goals scored in the current NHL season. On Sunday, Washington secured a victory over the Islanders in an away game of the NHL regular season. Ovechkin’s team won 4-1, with the Russian scoring in the final minute of the match. This was Ovechkin’s 12th goal of the season. He surpassed Nikita Kucherov and Pavel Dorofeyev (who have 11 each) and is second among Russians, trailing only Kirill Kaprizov with 17 goals. The league’s overall top scorer is Canadian forward Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche with 20 goals. In their next game, the Capitals will play away against Los Angeles on December 2nd.
