Pakistan and Egypt Strengthen Economic and Defence Ties

Pakistan and Egypt agreed on Sunday to deepen ties in economic, commercial, cultural, and defence sectors after years of stagnant relationship. Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty visited Islamabad and discussed various topics with Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar.

The discussions included conflicts in Gaza and Sudan, the Iranian nuclear programme dispute, and ways to enhance economic cooperation. Dar acknowledged the lack of meetings between the Pakistan-Egypt Joint Ministerial Commission since 2010 and no bilateral political consultations.

Both sides agreed to expand trade ties by sharing business lists and expediting visas for the business community. Plans were made to establish a Pakistan-Egypt Business Council and Business Forum to promote commercial partnerships.

Dar noted Egypt’s role in humanitarian support and expressed appreciation for Egypt’s scholarships for Pakistani students. Abdelatty vowed to elevate the bilateral relationship to a strategic level and offered solidarity in the fight against terrorism.

Egypt also expressed willingness to enhance dialogue and cooperation with Pakistan for mutual benefit and continued growth.
