President Prabowo Subianto is urging the people to be thankful for Indonesia’s palm oil industry, considering it is seen as a gift from God. He stated that without this industry, Indonesia would have to continue importing fuel. Currently, ongoing conflicts are making imports even more difficult. Prabowo’s statements come amidst accusations that the flooding in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra is a result of forests being converted into palm oil plantations. Prabowo mentioned that with palm oil, Indonesia no longer needs to import fuel.
