Patriarch Kirill removes Exarch of Western Europe from office

Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church has made the decision to temporarily remove one of the key hierarchs of the church’s foreign structures from office. This information was reported on the official website of the Moscow Patriarchate. Patriarch Kirill issued an order according to which Metropolitan Nestor of Corsun, who held the position of Exarch of Western Europe and was also in charge of the Corsun, Spanish-Portuguese dioceses and parishes of the Moscow Patriarchate in Italy, was suspended from his duties. The decision is related to a church trial initiated against Nestor. Temporary management of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Western Europe, the Corsun, Spanish-Portuguese dioceses, and parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church in Italy has been entrusted to Metropolitan Mark of Ryazan and Mikhailov.
