PCC Gas Stations Moved $5 Billion in Three States, Police Say

The investigation by PCPI (Civil Police of Piauí) and Gaeco (Special Group for Combating Organized Crime) from MPPI (Public Ministry of Piauí) indicates that the PCC moved $5 billion through 49 gas stations in three states in the Northeast and North regions. These establishments are being judicially blocked on Wednesday morning (5), as revealed by CNN. The investigation states that the total amount from the investigated companies consisted of ‘atypical financial transactions.’ It details that, considering only credit transactions from companies based in Piauí, the total reaches $300 million under monitoring. Apart from the shut-down gas stations, Operation Carbono Oculto 86 also executes 17 search and seizure warrants against suspects in Piauí, Maranhão, Tocantins, and São Paulo. According to investigators, the main focus is the group under investigation in the capital of São Paulo. Police state that the faction used a complex structure of shell companies, investment funds, and fintechs to launder illicit funds, defraud the fuel market, and conceal assets.
