Peru’s Congress approves removal of President Dina Boluarte

The Peruvian Congress approved, unanimously, the removal of President Dina Boluarte on Friday (10). The motion that removes the president from office for ‘permanent moral incapacity’ to tackle organized crime in the country. The vote was called in the early hours of Friday, in Brasília time, late Thursday night (9), local time. The measure was approved by 121 votes in favor, out of a total of 130 possible. On Thursday afternoon, opposition lawmakers presented four motions to remove the president, arguing that her government did not do enough to combat insecurity.
