Reacting: Government leader and Minister of Mines and Energy celebrate authorization to explore oil in the Amazon Mouth. Environmental entities are taking legal action against oil exploration in the Amazon Mouth according to Miriam Leitao. The company states that drilling in the Amazon Mouth Basin is expected to start immediately, with an estimated duration of five months. Through this exploratory research, the company aims to obtain more geological information and assess if there is oil and gas in the area on an economic scale. There is no oil production at this stage. Petrobras’ 2025-2029 investment plan allocates around $3 billion for investments in the Equatorial Margin, including the drilling of the well released by Ibama on Monday.
