The Indonesian Teachers’ Association (PGRI) in Central Java (Jateng) has spoken out against the proposal of having six school days. The Chairman of PGRI Jateng, Muhdi, referred to the proposal as a ‘step backwards’. ‘I believe there are currently no sufficient reasons to make a change. The government previously changed from 6 to 5 workdays with quite rational reasons,’ said Muhdi. He stated that parents also have a responsibility in educating their children and there’s a need for students to have more time with their families.
