Plane crashes in Pantanal: one of the world’s greatest architects, 2 Brazilian filmmakers, and pilot die

One of the world’s greatest architects and urbanists, Chinese Kongjian Yu, and two Brazilian documentarians – Luiz Fernando Feres da Cunha Ferraz and Rubens Crispim Jr. – died on Tuesday night, 23, after the small plane they were on crashed in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Aquidauana region. According to the Brazilian Aeronautical Registry (RAB), the plane was manufactured in 1958 and acquired in 2015 by the current owner, pilot Marcelo Pereira de Barros, who died in the accident. The aircraft had capacity for one crew member and three passengers, but was only authorized for daytime operations. The Airworthiness Certificate was valid until December 9th.
