PM Mark Carney Travels to UAE Before G20 Summit

Prime Minister Mark Carney is traveling to the United Arab Emirates tonight before making his way to South Africa for the G20 Leaders’ Summit later this week. A news release from the Prime Minister’s Office mentions that Carney will meet with the president of the UAE in Abu Dhabi to strengthen the Canada-UAE economic partnership, especially in key sectors like energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and AI. Additionally, Carney is set to engage with business executives and investors as part of his efforts to diversify Canada’s export markets and attract more foreign investments. Later this week, Carney will participate in the G20 summit in Johannesburg, marking his first attendance at the forum representing over 85% of the global economy. This trip is Carney’s second overseas visit in the past month and his 10th since assuming office, drawing criticism from the Conservatives. Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed support for Carney’s international travels, acknowledging his efforts in advancing Canada’s interests globally.
