Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin, revealed the significant potential of waqf in Indonesia. If collected, the annual waqf money could reach Rp180 trillion. Ma’ruf Amin considered this perpetual endowment from the community to have a strategic role and be an effective solution to address poverty in the country. He made these remarks during the Waqfpreneur Forum Jurnalis Wakaf dan Zakat Indonesia (Forjukafi) discussion at the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Thursday, October 30, 2025. ‘That’s why I keep pushing, because the potential of waqf is enormous. Especially now, our waqf potential per year is Rp180 trillion,’ said Ma’ruf Amin. ‘And God willing, if we can develop this waqf to combat poverty, I believe,’ he added.
