Prabowo Expresses Gratitude for Indonesia’s Self-Handling of Sumatra Disasters, Aceh Governor Opens Doors to Foreign Aid

Officially, no foreign country or international organization has announced post-disaster assistance in Sumatra. Last week, Prabowo expressed gratitude that Indonesia was able to handle the flood issues and their impacts on its own. Meanwhile, Aceh Governor rejects accusations that the Aceh government is hindering the entry of foreign aid. Until now, no foreign countries or international organizations have officially provided assistance to the victims of flash floods and landslides that have struck three provinces in Sumatra (Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra). President Prabowo expressed gratitude for being able to handle the floods in Sumatra without foreign aid. ‘This disaster is once again a calamity but on the other hand, tests us. Alhamdulillah, we are strong, we solve problems on our own,’ Prabowo said during the 61st Anniversary of the Golkar Party at Istora Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta, last Friday.
