One of the agendas for the MUI Conference is the election of a new chairman. The current MUI Chairman is K.H. Anwar Iskandar, who has been in office since August 2023 after replacing KH Miftachul Akhyar for the remaining term until the next MUI Conference. The election system for the period 2025-2030 is using the Ahlul Halli wal Aqdi system or the formatur system. The Steering Committee Chair of the XI MUI Conference, KH Masduki Baidlowi, revealed that there will be 17 formatur to select the MUI leaders for the period 2025-2030 at this conference. Masduki explained that the 17 formatur consist of former MUI leaders, including former vice chairman, former chairman, former secretary general, and former treasurer general.
