The research was conducted by an international team that combined microscopy techniques, geochemical analyses (FTIR and chromatography), and palynology studies. The material was dated to around 112 million years, within the period known as the ‘Cretaceous Resinous Interval.’ Despite the progress, the limited number of inclusions restricts generalizations about the fauna. Additionally, prolonged contact with petroleum altered some of the amber’s composition, necessitating caution in chemical analyses.
