Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan spoke with Trump in Russian

At the ‘Central Asia + USA’ summit, the presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdymukhamedov, conversed with their American counterpart, Donald Trump, in Russian. This was highlighted by RIA Novosti. A total of five leaders from Central Asian countries participated in the meeting. Mirziyoyev and Berdymukhamedov were the only ones who used Russian. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Sadyr Japarov and Emomali Rahmon, decided to communicate in their native languages, while Kazakhstan’s leader, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, chose English for his speech.
