Supporters of businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who is currently under arrest, started a large march in Yerevan on Saturday. The event was reported by RIA Novosti. Protesters gathered for a rally at Freedom Square and then headed towards the National Security Service building in the Armenian capital. The demonstrators demand the release of Karapetyan, who was detained on charges of tax evasion and illegal entrepreneurship. Karapetyan’s supporters argue that the case against him is politically motivated. The protest comes amidst growing tensions and political unrest in Armenia.
