Punjab Makes Big Announcement for Millions of Women, Mann Government Launches Major Scheme

Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has approved the restructuring of the free sanitary napkin distribution program under the guidance of Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur. The program, now known as the ‘New Direction Scheme,’ aims to establish a reliable, systematic, and sustainable distribution system across the state. As part of the revamped scheme, needy women will receive 9 sanitary napkins per month regularly through Anganwadi centers. Each Anganwadi center will distribute under the supervision of 50 beneficiaries, covering a minimum of 13,65,700 women every month.
