Putin Orders Access for Foreign Journalists to Besieged Cities

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that, by the order of President Vladimir Putin, a decision was made to ensure unrestricted access for foreign journalists, including representatives of Ukrainian media, to the areas of Krasnoarmiysk, Dymitrov, and Kupiansk, where active combat is ongoing. This was announced in the ministry’s Telegram channel. Russian command is prepared to temporarily halt combat operations for 5-6 hours to guarantee the safe access and departure of journalists.

Foreign correspondents will be able to visit the areas blocked by Ukrainian troops and have the opportunity to directly address the Ukrainian Armed Forces command to cover the events. On October 29th, Putin stated that Russia is willing to allow foreign media representatives access to Ukrainian forces in Pokrovsk and Kupiansk.

The Russian side is only concerned about avoiding provocations from the Ukrainian side during the journalists’ stay in these cities. Consequently, Russia is ready to halt combat operations in those front line sections for a period of time. Putin explained, ‘We are ready to cease combat operations for a certain period, for a few hours, two, three, six hours.’ The President also mentioned that the current situation in the special operation zone is favorable for Russia.

He emphasized that Russia is ensuring long-term security in the special operations zone. The Russian army is advancing and acting actively on all fronts. In Kupiansk and Krasnoarmiysk (Pokrovsk), Ukrainian forces are blocked and surrounded, Putin noted.
