Red Wings Plane Returns to Domodedovo Airport Due to Engine Problems

At Domodedovo Airport in Moscow, a Red Wings Boeing 777-200 plane, on a flight from Moscow to Phuket, had to make an emergency landing after an abnormal situation that resulted in an engine fire, as reported by TASS. The landing was safely completed at 10:53 pm. Prior to the landing, the plane circled over the southern region of the Moscow Oblast (Stupino district) to burn off fuel. The emergency situation occurred shortly after takeoff from Domodedovo at an altitude of around 2380 meters. The Red Wings press service stated that during flight WZ-3097, the aircraft crew noticed changes in one of the engines’ parameters and made the timely decision to return to the departure airport. The Russian Federal Air Transport Agency reported that the aircraft commander decided to return due to engine problems. The incident is preliminary classified as an aviation incident. There were no injuries reported among passengers and crew members.
