Fluminense will take the field on Thursday (28) to face Bahia in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals. The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 pm at Arena Fonte Nova. Head coach Renato Gaúcho is expected to have all key players available and ready for the match.
Renato Gaúcho faces a few uncertainties when it comes to setting up Fluminense. With all starters at his disposal, there’s a chance he might opt for a lineup with three defenders against Bahia, a formation previously used during the Club World Cup.
However, it’s likely that Fluminense will stick with the 4-3-3 formation, and in that case, Nonato and Lima will compete for a spot in midfield. The potential lineup to face Bahia could feature Fábio; Samuel Xavier, Thiago Silva, Freytes, and Renê; Hércules, Martinelli, and Nonato (or Lima); Kevin Serna, Canobbio, and Everaldo.
The winner of the Fluminense vs. Bahia match in the Copa do Brasil quarterfinals will go on to face the victor between Botafogo and Vasco in the next stage of the competition.
