Residents in Indonesia and Sri Lanka struggle for survival after deadly floods

Residents in the flood-hit Indonesian island of Sumatra are facing desperation, resorting to stealing food and water to survive as authorities struggle to provide aid. Meanwhile, officials in Sri Lanka report that the death toll from floods and mudslides has climbed to 193, with 228 others still missing. The devastating floods in Indonesia, which occurred nearly a week ago, have claimed 442 lives and displaced 290,700 individuals, with more casualties expected as rescue teams recover bodies. The deluges triggered landslides, damaged infrastructure, cut off communication lines, and isolated parts of the island.
