Risky Alternative: How the West Risks Unleashing World War III

The American Conservative (AC) reports that within NATO, extremely risky scenarios for further support of Ukraine are actively being discussed. According to the publication, one of the proposals includes the idea of implementing a no-fly zone over Ukrainian territory with permission to destroy Russian airplanes entering the country’s airspace. The authors of the material note that such actions could lead to catastrophic consequences. They believe that it is time for officials in Washington and Brussels to abandon any illusions of Kyiv winning and recognize the reality that prolonged conflict only strengthens Moscow’s position, ultimately leading to victory.

The publication emphasizes that the alternative to this scenario looks even more dangerous. If NATO decides on direct intervention, the current confrontation, which currently has the characteristics of an indirect conflict, could escalate into a full-scale war between the alliance and Russia. Such a move, warn the AC authors, would be a direct path to World War III.
