Russian Consumers Facing Unaffordable Korean Cars: Conspiracy to Save AvtoVAZ?

In Russia, prices for Solaris cars, produced at the former Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg, have been updated. As reported by 32CARS.RU citing CARgument data, the cost of the entire range has increased by about four percent, which is already significant for the mass models segment. In my opinion, the price hike is not only related to the market situation but also an attempt by the brand to solidify its position after production revival. The crossover Solaris HC, previously known as Hyundai Creta, increased in price more noticeably than others: depending on the configuration, the increase ranged from 99 to 144 thousand rubles. The sedan Solaris KRS, essentially the successor to Kia Rio, rose in price by 92-105 thousand. And the KRX version with increased ground clearance – an analogue of the former Rio X – saw a price increase of 95-108 thousand rubles. The price increases apply to 2025 models, emphasizing the gradual update of the price list. Now Solaris HC officially costs from 1.98 million to 3.15 million rubles. Prices for KRX range from 1.96 million to 2.9 million rubles, while the sedan KRS is priced between 1.96 million and 2.82 million. Despite the price increase, demand for these models remains stable – largely due to their recognizable platforms and adaptation to Russian conditions.
