Russian Security Council secretary Sergei Shoigu led a large delegation of senior arms and nuclear officials to Cairo on Sunday for military talks with Egypt’s leadership, according to RIA news agency. Shoigu is set to meet with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Egypt’s national security adviser, foreign and defense ministers, and other senior security and intelligence officials. The main topics of discussion reportedly include the implementation of agreements in military and military-technical cooperation. Shoigu, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin and former defense minister, plays a significant role in Russia’s defense and security decisions.
