Russia is ready to continue the dialogue with Ukraine in the Istanbul format, but only if there is a corresponding basis for it. This opinion was expressed by Rodion Miroshnik, the Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for Crimes of the Kiev Regime, in a comment to the Izvestia agency. He stated that Russia has already taken steps towards the peace process by presenting its proposal and formulating a memorandum project. ‘Starting from July, Russia was ready to continue these actions. We did not leave the Istanbul format, our positions remained unchanged in this sense,’ the diplomat noted.
Miroshnik also spoke about the prospects of implementing Washington’s peace plan and Europe’s position, which is undermining this plan. He explained, ‘Either the approach declared by Americans today will fit and can be adapted to the tasks formulated by Russia, or it will become unacceptable. Europe is trying to transform this approach in a way that would make Russia responsible for derailing the peace process, while the main opponents of peacekeeping are Europeans and Ukraine – a situational group working to sabotage the peaceful settlement process.’
