The conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in 2022. Lasting for over 3 1/2 years, the war continues to escalate. Last year, a Ukrainian soldier, Vadym Hohol, was captured in Russia. He was shot and killed by Russian soldier Dmitry Kurashov (27) while in captivity. Following this incident, Ukrainian troops entered Russian-controlled territory and captured Dmitry and his group. They were then taken to trial in a Ukrainian military court. Dmitry confessed to the charges against him during interrogation. Despite agreeing to exchange prisoners, Russia rejected the proposal. However, Ukraine imposed a life sentence on him.
