Russians advocate for Brics dispute resolution center

Russian lawyers face difficulties in participating in arbitrations due to sanctions imposed on the country because of the war against Ukraine. Therefore, they advocate for the creation of a Brics dispute resolution center. The perception was raised at the 10th Legal Forum of Brics, an event that gathered representatives from the three branches of government, academia, and legal institutions of the countries that make up the bloc—Brazil, South Africa, China, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, India, Iran, and Russia. The event aims to discuss international governance, sustainability, and legal integration under the theme ‘Strengthening global South cooperation for a more inclusive and sustainable governance.’ Ekaterina Kudelich, director of the Department of International Law and Cooperation at the Russian Ministry of Justice, stated that the creation of a Brics international investment center focused on the prevention and amicable resolution of conflicts is ‘not a utopia.’
