Russia’s Sergey Lavrov Criticizes the West, Expresses Disappointment and Aims for SCO and BRICS Support Amid Trump’s Sanctions

During a recent interview, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov criticized the West, stating that the agreements sponsored by them with regards to Ukraine failed to prevent the country from becoming anti-Russia. Lavrov emphasized that Russia’s commitment to defending its national interests and protecting ethnic Russians in Crimea, Donbass, and Novorossiya came at a significant cost. Lavrov expressed disappointment in the West, stating, ‘Should’ve never trusted them.’ Amid the sanctions imposed by the Trump administration, Lavrov pinned hopes on support from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS to navigate the challenges ahead.
