S Jaishankar To Virtually Represent India At BRICS 2025

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has been chosen to virtually represent India at the upcoming BRICS leaders’ summit scheduled for Monday, September 8. The meeting has been initiated by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva with the primary agenda of addressing the global trade disruptions that have arisen as a consequence of the imposition of tariffs by the United States. This virtual gathering aims to facilitate discussions among the BRICS nations regarding potential solutions and strategies to mitigate the impact of these disruptions on international trade. Despite the significance of this meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to abstain from it as India gears up for its presidency of BRICS in 2026.
