Santa Catarina under two storm warnings with winds reaching up to 100 kilometers per hour

Santa Catarina is under two storm warnings from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) with both valid until 10 a.m. on Tuesday (2). The regions of Vale do Itajaí, Grande Florianópolis, North, and South of Santa Catarina are under a yellow alert. This means there is a potential risk for rains of up to 50 millimeters during the period, as well as winds between 40 and 60 kilometers per hour and a risk of hail. The western region of Santa Catarina is under an orange alert, indicating danger. In this area, rains can reach up to 100 millimeters, with winds ranging from 60 to 100 kilometers per hour. There is a risk of hail, as well as power outages, damage to crops, falling trees, and flooding. The North and Vale do Itajaí are also under this alert. In addition to Santa Catarina, the states of São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, and Mato Grosso do Sul are also part of the same storm warnings issued by Inmet. Inmet uses a color-coded alert system (yellow, orange, and red) based on the severity of the meteorological event, such as rains, winds, and temperature drops.
