Despite the dominance of crossovers, sedans remain a popular format, with several significant releases expected in the next two years. Experts have highlighted four models set to appear in the near future, along with one yet unconfirmed but discussed. The new BMW i3 (next generation) is seen as an electric sedan on the Neue Klasse platform. It will be developed alongside the new gasoline 3 Series and aims to compete with the Tesla Model 3. Various versions are expected, including a high-powered one, with production forecasted for the second half of 2026.
The Infiniti Q50 may make a comeback as an exception amid electrification. The appearance of a sports-oriented version for enthusiasts is not ruled out: rear-wheel drive, a manual gearbox, and a twin-turbo V6 (power target up to 450 hp), with a possible release date in 2027. The Kia EV4 aims for the niche of relatively affordable electric sedans, offering two batteries, a range of up to 520 km, and rapid charging from 10–80% in about 29 minutes. The launch has reportedly been delayed due to weak demand.
The new Lexus ES will debut without a pure gasoline version: the lineup includes the hybrid ES 350h and the electric ES 350e/500e. The 350e is claimed to have a range of up to 480 km on a single charge, while the 500e can accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h in around 5.4 seconds; sales are expected to start in March 2026.
