On October 25, 2025, during the third ODI against Australia, Iyer suffered a serious injury near his abdomen, causing internal bleeding in his camp. The injury was quickly diagnosed, and he was admitted to a hospital in Sydney. After successful surgery to stop internal bleeding, proper medical care was provided to him as requested by the BCCI.
The latest medical update from the BCCI stated, “His condition is now stable, and he is improving. The medical team of the BCCI, along with doctors from Sydney and India, have been pleased with his progress. He is set to be discharged from the hospital today.”
In Sydney… The BCCI further added, “We thank Dr. Kaurosh Haghigi and his team in Sydney, as well as Dr. Dinesh Pardiwala in India, for their outstanding care for Shreyas during his injury. Shreyas will remain in Sydney for further evaluation. Once doctors approve his air travel, he will return.”
