Shrimp sold at Walmart in the US is being investigated for containing radioactive material

Frozen raw shrimp sold by PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati (BMS Foods) from Indonesia, under the Great Value brand, exclusive to the Walmart supermarket chain in the United States, are under investigation for possible contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope. The discovery was made during routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in the US, raising concerns about the safety of seafood imported from Indonesia. The presence of Cesium-137, a product of nuclear processes, highlights the importance of strict quality control measures in food production and distribution. The contaminated shrimp were traced back to the Indonesian supplier, prompting immediate actions to prevent further exposure to consumers. Walmart has withdrawn the affected batches of shrimp from its stores as a precautionary measure while investigations continue.
