Following Cambodia’s withdrawal from the SEA Games Under-22 men’s football tournament, Singapore has been placed in Group A. They will start their campaign against Timor-Leste on Dec 6 and will face hosts Thailand on Dec 11 at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok. Originally placed in Group C, Singapore was scheduled to play Indonesia on Dec 5, followed by matches against Myanmar and the Philippines in Chiang Mai. However, Cambodia’s decision not to participate due to safety concerns led to the group reshuffle. The group now consists of Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Singapore, with the latter moved from Group C without explanation. The tournament format allows the top team from each group and the best second-placed team to advance to the semi-finals. Singapore’s coach, Firdaus Kassim, acknowledged the challenge posed by the sudden change in opponents and venue but remains focused on the team’s preparation and performance.
