Singer who went viral teaching how to sing like Gal Costa covers ‘Baby’ and web reacts: ‘I got chills from beginning to end’

Elize Fleury is known for making videos teaching how to ‘imitate’ the voices of great female singers. Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Lady Gaga are some of the divas who have passed through her classes. But a specific video went viral last week, receiving numerous accolades for the singer: the one about Gal Costa. The video currently has over 317,000 likes and 20,000 comments.
Such was the success of the video that Elize returned to social media on Friday (14) with another tribute to the late Brazilian singer. This time, she shared a video with a cover of ‘Baby,’ a song by Caetano Veloso immortalized by Gal. ‘Many people asked me to sing more Gal Costa after the ‘How to Imitate’! I hope you enjoy this mini version,’ Elize wrote.
At the moment, the video has amassed almost 40,000 likes. Among the over 2,000 comments it received was one from Rubel, who has sung with the Brazilian tropicalist several times. Shocked, he commented with some surprised emojis.
‘Elize, I got chills from beginning to end. My dream is to one day have as much technique as you. What talent,’ said one internet user. ‘Terrifying,’ commented another. ‘I went to listen to Gal’s original now just to confirm, and when I closed my eyes, it felt like I was listening to Elize,’ said a third. Numerous comments describe the emotion and tears evoked by the video.
Many followers also request that Elize perform a show singing Gal’s repertoire. Others wish for her to sing original songs. Like actress Flavia Reis: ‘And bring some original songs, come on!!!!!! 😍 …. There are so many people singing Gal without your talent (and Gal’s).
