A single-engine plane had to make an emergency landing on the Régis Bittencourt Highway (BR-116), at km 314.4, in Juquitiba (SP), on Sunday afternoon (28). The landing took place on the southbound lane, heading towards Curitiba (PR).
According to the Arteris Régis Bittencourt concessionaire, responsible for the highway, the maneuver was necessary due to a mechanical failure in the engine.
The flight had departed from Vargem Grande and was flying over Itapecerica da Serra when the problem arose. The landing was safely executed with no victims.
According to the Public Security Secretariat, the Fire Department responded to the incident and confirmed that there were no injuries or fuel leaks. Teams worked to remove the aircraft from the runway. The Federal Highway Police also assisted in the incident.
